007 USB Flash Drive: Combination Of Digital Security With Mechanical Security

It is a great design and a good example of how to combine digital security with mechanical security to protect your data in a USB flash drive.

First, this 007 USB Flash Drive is physically secured with an analogue security of a bike lock. Not only that this lock covers the USB port, but also ties the lock to an object (like a desk) via a steel cable.

Now if someone managed to guess the three digits combination of the security lock, then he has next to break through the second level of secirity which is the software password to access the data.

Don't start looking to purchase the 007 USB Flash Drive online. This USB Flash Drive is just a design concept and it's not a reality yet ... so you will not find this anywhere in any store. Maybe one day this design will be adobted and converted into a reality.

Sony GPS-CS1: Tags Photos With Location

Sony Electronics announced Tuesday August 1st a GPS device that puts your pictures on the map. Using time and location recordings from Sony’s GPS-CS1 GPS device and the time stamp from a Sony digital still camera or camcorder, photo buffs can plot their digital images to a map and pinpoint exactly where they’ve been.

The 12-channel GPS unit is 3-½ inches long, weighs two ounces, and is sold with a carabineer to easily attach to a backpack or a belt loop.“Whether you’re traveling to the Seven Wonders of the World, or just wondering where to buy your next house, our new GPS device can track your journey,” said David Johns, product manager for digital camera accessories at Sony Electronics. “

Adding a geographic context to your digital images helps organize and make use of your photos in entirely new ways.”To arrange your pictures geographically, import the logged data from the GPS device, using the supplied USB cable, and then download the digital images to a computer. The supplied GPS Image Tracker software synchronizes the images on your digital camera with the latitude, longitude and time readings from the GPS-CS1 device.

Once synchronized, your photos can become virtual push pins on an online map by activating the Picture Motion Browser software bundled with the latest Sony cameras and camcorders released after July. You can easily add new photos and coordinates to the mapping web site, courtesy of Google Maps, and showcase years of globe-trotting.The GPS-CS1 GPS device will be available next month for about $150 at sonystyle.com, at Sony Style retail stores.

Microsoft Windows Vista Soft Drink

Windows Vista won't be released until earlier next year at the best, but at least Windows Vista soft drink is currently in Microsoft campus' refrigerators.

Special-edition cans of Talking Rain Lemon-Lime sparkling water, sporting the logo for the upcoming operating system, have been stocked among the other free sodas available to the company's employees.

It's a promotion for the preliminary version of the program, pointing employees to an internal Windows Vista site.So now at least we know that Microsoft is serious about the release of Windows Vista.

Delux iShow DLA-688 for squint-inducing videos

China's Delux isn't really breaking any new ground here, but their iShow DLA-688 stores the tunes, plays the vids, and does it all for 50 bucks. Sadly, the screen is a mere 1.8-inch LCD, and the video playback is that annoying MTV format which we see from time to time in budget players. Luckily, the 1GB of memory, FM radio, eBook reading, games and voice recording are a little more interesting, as is the USB 2.0 port. No word on availability.
